Description

As part of its Cancer Biology Training Program, the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center provides exposure to cancer research for highly motivated and talented college undergraduates. This program gives the successful applicants an opportunity to explore potential careers in the field of cancer research. Internships are aimed at students who are completing their sophomore or junior undergraduate year this spring. Applications are encouraged from individuals from minority groups that are currently underrepresented in biomedical and behavioral research.

The program will run for a ten-week period in the summer (May 22 - July 31). Students selected are matched with an appropriate U-M faculty. Interns are paid a stipend of $5,500 and are responsible for their own housing and travel arrangements.

This program may be able to offer need-based, financial assistance to supplement expenses related to travel for the program.  If you require financial assistance in order to participate in this program you will need to input your Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) number from your FAFSA application. To find out more about the EFC number, how it is calculated, and where to find it please visit:  https://studentaid.ed.gov

We are unable to provide the exact level of assistance available each year, as it is dependent on the volume of fellows who seek and qualify for financial assistance each year.  If you qualify for financial assistance and you are selected to participate in this program, you will be asked to provide a copy of your FAFSA form containing the EFC.

*Financial assistance data will be kept confidential from reviewers.
